He just spent everything on a house in disrepair, but he didn’t know someone was waiting inside.

Newly single after a messy divorce, his plan is to live in the house as he restores it for resale. To his horror, as soon as the papers are signed and his work starts, ghosts begin to appear. A bone-white little boy. A woman covered in flies. Tim can’t afford to leave and lose it all, so he turns to his real estate agent Holly Burns to help him decide whether he has any shot at solving his haunted problem. Can they solve the mystery before he loses his investment…or maybe his life?

My Review

Our main character Tim who is recently divorce and buys a run down house to refurbish and resell but soon discovers this house is haunted. This was a really spooky and atmospheric read which really pulled me into the story and kept me reading. The author was really talented and skilled with the description and making the reader feel like they walking through the house alongside Tim.

I really enjoyed the diary entry format and aspects in this story which added more depth and development to this story. I also really enjoyed how all the “anniversaries” were figured out towards the end of this story.

Throughout this story there were two main things that kind of bothered me. The first thing was that when our main character was telling others about this ghost problem they believed him straight away. I mean I have an obsession with the weird and paranormal but if someone came up to me and told me his house was haunted I would think he’s messing me. I feel like if Tim had more of a struggle to get people to believe him it would have added a bunch more tension and depth to the story.

The second thing that bothered me was the relationship. It went from one date to sleeping together and being in a relationship with no discussion or even knowing much about one another which I found very very weird and unrealistic.

Other than those two complaints I did enjoy this really spooky and atmospheric ghostly read. If you’re looking for a paranormal book involving ghosts and a haunting this one may be for you.
